BEFORE THE STORY:

Laurie and Asminia were coworkers who hadn't interacted much, with scholarly admiration on Laurie's part, but properly met at a boring office party, becoming close friends, and eventually lived together for a while. This means when they are isolated together on the station, they fall into a co-living rhythm easily. When people started leaving, the station's AI was activated to to help keep everything running, but Asminia deactivated it when it was just her and a few other people, as she preffered to do manual upkeep of most things. The station itself is also rather mysterious, as it belonged original leader of the project, who was vague about the source.

FURTHER INFO ON PART 1:

This song follows from everyone else quitting, to just after Asminia's death, with Laurie feeling guilty as she had an argument directly before the night Asminia died, and is trying to figure out the details. When she has a vengeful ghost induced nightmare about killing Asminia, she has a breakdown, cuts the research station off from the rest of the world, and searches through Asminia's belongings and files, eventually reactivating the AI for the station.

FURTHER INFO ON PART 2:

This song follows Laurie trying to ignore every creak, every strange whispered conversation she can just hear in the night, every malfunction that should be impossible, and most of all, the idea that she may have, even accidentally, killed her best friend. It also follows her befriending the station's AI, and believes that it can be a guiding light when she is panicking and has no clue what to do. Unbeknownst to Laurie, the AI has been possesed by Asminia. However, as a ghost, she has lost most of her identity, and is laser focused on encouraging Laurie to further research the happenings in and around the station, discarding her original ideals of protecting places, animals and people, and supporting Laurie when she decides to do something reckless. As time goes on, and she spends more time with Laurie, she begins to come back to herself. Will it be enough?

FURTHER INFO ON PART 3:

This song follows Laurie retrieving a corpse of...something. It is the artifact that everything is tied to. Bringing it onto the station intensely sped up what was going to happen already. Asminia fully regains herself just as it begins, and is able to reposess her orignal body. She and Laurie try their very best to at first stop the flooding/breaking/sinking of the station, and then to get their research preserved, even if they will die. Both attempts fail, and so they try confirming what happened during Asmninia's death. Laurie did not kill her, that Asminia is certain of, but Laurie did act spitefully after their argument, which contributed to how Asminia was killed. They spend their last hours together forgiving putting each other in harm's way, and pretending to be friends like they were before this all happened.
